SEO Consult, a UK-based search engine optimization company (SEO), says that Google’s page ranks aren’t the only target in the SEO industry. Sites should also have a strong presence in relevant internet communities.
SEO Consult cited “bloggers” as a relevant source of strong online presence. In the World Wide Web, bloggers are influential—they can be compared to journalists or the press in the real world context.
However, the company says that sites should be careful in selecting which blogs to interact with. Some blogs can be easily associated with negative publicity and these are the wrong blogs to work with.
Sites can also capitalize in strengthening their reputation through online forums. Most forums are topic-specific and free, making it an excellent tool for advertising and community engagement.
Another venue that sites can use are social networking sites, like Facebook and Twitter. These sites offer companies the chance to engage their client base in a more casual and friendly manner.
