Amazon.com partners with Facebook

Published on July 29, 2010 by Last Click News   ·   No Comments

Amazon.com and Facebook have signed an agreement that will give the retailer a special site on the social networking site.

The special site will allow Facebook subscribers to purchase products for their friends—depending on their tastes and preferences. The interests will be determined from the Facebook profiles of the would-be gift receivers.

Analysis of the interests will include the music and video collections of the user. There will also be a service that enlists upcoming birthdays of friends, which will also feature gift recommendations.

The deal was made to enhance the shopping experience of Amazon users, according to a spokesperson from the online retailer.

The Amazon representative explained: “The effort was about pulling customers’ likes and interests from their profiles to generate personalized recommendations. Beyond that, we don’t have anything else to add.”
