Ask.com to be purchased by a bigger search engine

Published on October 29, 2009 by Last Click News   ·   No Comments

According to reports, Ask.com’s CEO is said that the company might be bought by one of its larger competitors.

Ask.com is currently in fourth place in the search engine market—behind Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Experts say that the site is still far from getting gains.

Reports claim that Barry Diller—CEO of IAC, Ask.com’s parent company—says that the company is looking to consolidate transactions in the area of search.

If Ask.com is purchased, it would leave a smaller scope of work for search engine optimization (SEO) professionals. The upcoming merger of Microsoft and Yahoo will also simplify SEO campaigns.

However, all of this is still speculation. Yahoo and Microsoft might not want to add a third partner, especially since the merger is still fresh. And Google has no logical reason to purchase the company.
