Big change in Google search

Published on October 25, 2011 by David Castillo   ·   No Comments

The search engine optimization industry is bracing itself for a big change as Google announced that searches will now be encrypted for logged in Google users. This may have tremendous ramifications in the SEO playing field.

The encryption feature will provide more privacy for Google users. It will only be functional for logged in Google users while they search. When this happens, the search engine will block referral data from third parties, including Google Analytics.

While most web experts say this is a big change-up, Google says that around only 10 percent of users will be affected.

On the SEO side, the increased privacy settings will prevent campaigns from analyzing key phrases for search.

From an optimistic perspective, SEO approaches constantly evolve. The wealth of experience of SEO campaign managers will definitely be ready for the challenges of encrypted searches.
