Bing continues to gain ground, while detailed keyword use rises

A recent study from Experian Hitwise shows that different search engines attract separate demographics.

Overall, Google still attracts the most traffic. However, Hitwise found that Bing is making tremendous gains in selected segments, like automotive, health, shopping, and travel.

For May, the overall searches conducted in Bing rose and accounted for more than nine percent of total searches. Meanwhile, Google held more than 70 percent of the search queries and Yahoo held 14.4 percent.

The report also showed that there was an increase in two and three word searches, which could affect search engine optimization (SEO). SEO campaigns should now consider integrating more detailed keywords to ensure the performance of their campaign.

Also, social media continues to be an effective marketing component for SEO. Reports claim that online businesses have been especially satisfied with the integration of social media sites, like Twitter and Facebook, to their SEO campaign.
