Caffeine could change Google’s SEO specifications

Published on August 11, 2009 by Last Click News   ·   No Comments

Google’s introduction of Caffeine—a new project—might change the algorithms of the world’s most famous search engine.

Web developers were asked to test the new infrastructure by software engineer Sitaram Iyer and principal engineer Matt Cutts.

The company says that there are no changes regarding the queries, although Vanessa Fox says that the search results could change if Caffeine is put in the mix. This would side track the search engine optimization (SEO) strategies of several companies, which have worked hard to top the rankings with the original Google algorithm. Fox says that Caffeine will put more emphasis on universal search.

However, the impact of Caffeine is still unclear. Until it goes live, there are no sure conclusions.

The press questioned if the motivation behind the unveiling of Caffeine is Microsoft’s introduction of Bing. Cutts quickly pointed out that this was not true.

“I love competition in search and want lots of it, but this change has been in the works for months,” said Cutts. “I think the best way for Google to do well in search is to continue what we’ve done for the last decade or so: focus relentlessly on pushing our search quality forward.”
