Google and Yahoo implicated in Xerox case

Google and Yahoo, the top search engines, are targets of a lawsuit filed by Xerox, the copier manufacturer. Xerox is accusing the two companies of violating Xerox’s patents on search integration technology.

Reports say that the patent technology includes the use of automatically generated queries based on keyword searches. Both Google and Yahoo use this technology in their ad content networks. And the two search engine also use a tech that modifies pages based on user reviews—which Xerox says is its patent.

Google has strongly disputed the claims of Xerox. On the other hand, Yahoo has not released an official statement on the issue.

googleyahoologos_2Search engine optimization (SEO) experts that the case is unlikely to affect the implicated search engines. The issue has not triggered an uproar from the search engines, which could mean that they are not the least threatened.
