Google continues to test new page designs

Published on July 28, 2011 by David Castillo   ·   No Comments

Google is currently testing new layouts for its web search page and other search properties, according to reports.

Sources describe say that the new layout options come with sidebar options, which are placed between the search box and the search results. The footer’s navigation links are now designed with plain text and it no longer has a Google image.

According to people who have seen the new designs, Google’s pages are now cleaner and their colors are more seamless. Search pages no longer have “cached” and “similar links”; instead, each entry contains a page headline and its description.

Experts say that the new format is designed to support additional advertisements on the page. At the least, it will have to retool the ad opportunities on the page. With more space, Google will be able to integrate different types of ad formats.
