Google is still top search engine for May

In May, Americans conducted more than 15 billion searches based on a recent report by comScore. This marked a 3 percent increase compared to the previous month.

Google is the search engine that is used by a vast majority of American browsers. According to comScore, Google accounted for more than 60 percent of searches in the past month.

Following Google are Yahoo and Bing who, together, racked less than one-third of all searches. However, both search engines increased their market share over the past month and Google lost some ground.

The biggest mover in the industry was Amazon with 14 percent more searches compared to the previous month.

Because more and more Americans are using search engines to find products, search engine optimization (SEO) become a big industry. According to statistics, more than 90 percent of online retailers use SEO to run their business.

What has changed? Google searches much more difficult. Not finding searches as requested several weeks ago. Just typing in Hotmail sign in for example does not take you to the sign in page.
Used to be more user friendly. Very disappointed.

  2. I think they [Google] still have some adjustments to make. If hotmail is not topping that query, then its probably their SEO campaign’s fault. Wouldn’t you agree?
