Google leads September race, Bing posts first loss

A recent study published by Experian Hitwise, a renowned internet research company, indicates that Google is still the top search engine with more than 70 percent of US internet searches. However, Microsoft’s Bing has made a strong surge to end August with an 18 percent increase over the last four weeks of the month.

On the other hand, sources say that Bing has posted its first loss this September, while Google has gained several percentage points.

The research found many helpful facts for search engine optimization (SEO) experts. For one thing, it found that one-word searches are the most common and Google is still the primary source of traffic for many key industry segments.

While the battle for search engine dominance rages on, the industry in general remains to have great prospects. Experts say that SEO will remain an invaluable tool for online businesses.
