Google upgrades its image search engine

Published on July 21, 2010 by David Castillo   ·   1 Comment

Google has overhauled its Image search engine results page with a new advertising format.

Google Images, whose index includes more than 10 billion photos, will now sport a more “dense tiled layout.” The company says that the new feature will allow the viewing of many images.

On top of that, the top search engine in the planet also increased the number of image results per page to 1,000; and browsers will also have the ability to hover cursors over a photo—giving them a larger version pop-up.

Google Images will also have a new landing page after a result is clicked. The display will feature a larger version of the image.

The new advertising format will be called Image Search Ads, which allows advertisers to include a thumbnail image with ad text.

The new version of Google Images began yesterday (July 20).
