Matt Cutts, Google’s popular engineer, says that keywords should be integrated into content organically.
In a recent Webmaster Help video, Cutts expressed the importance of naturally placed keyword in internet copies. He cited that excessive keyword use (or articles that read like spam) will trigger red flags from Google.
Cutts says that experienced search engine optimization analysts will be able to spot excessively used keywords-on-copy easily. And this can greatly hurt the performance of SEO campaigns.
The distinguished engineer said that SEO content needs to take note of keyword density and relevance. These two aspects will lead to better rankings and—more importantly—better reading experiences for browsers.
In past videos, Cutts said that trust building is the key in writing copies. Online marketers shouldn’t approach content in terms of delivering ranking results. Instead, they should focus on gaining the trust of their readers. Once they achieve this, Google will agree with them, eventually leading to higher rankings.
