Hotels go online

Published on October 17, 2011 by David Castillo   ·   No Comments

According to reports, hotels are planning to increase their spending for web marketing next year. Apart from search engine optimization efforts, the hoteliers will also be investing in social media marketing campaigns.

TravelClick says that more than 30% of hoteliers plan to increase their spending for web marketing campaigns. Conversely, only 3% said that they would cut their budgets in the same field.

The internet will allow these companies to reach new markets at a smaller price compared to traditional advertising efforts.

“Not only are hoteliers increasing budgets for mobile websites and marketing, but they are also increasing staff in areas such as social media,” explains Jason Ewell, TravelClick’s VP for e-commerce. “Hoteliers are recognizing how important mobile and social media are to guests, and they have begun to put more resources toward creating and maintaining these channels.”

Another area that hotels want to capitalize is the growing use of smartphones.
