How do you top rankings in Google News?

Published on November 27, 2009 by Last Click News   ·   No Comments

Online news publishers that are looking to climb up the rankings of Google News are in for a challenge. That’s because conventional search engine optimization (SEO) campaigns do not work as effectively on Google News compared to Google search.

The ranking system of Google News is unclear. Factors like content originality and editorial interest play a crucial role in search engine optimization (SEO) for Google News.

According to Danny Sullivan, a contributor for Search Engine Land, Google News also uses the number of clicks of a story attracted to rank it. This fact can be easily abused by some online news distributors. However, Sullivan says that this type of behavior is rarely a problem for the Google News as very few companies do it.

How do you top Google News? As of now, there is no sure formula. However, there are some few tips that can give you top ranks. First, is ‘unboxing’—be the first to write about the story. Second is to ensure the integrity of content. Make sure that the content is high-quality, something that will compel readers. After that, you rest the fate of your rankings to algorithms.
