Is Google+ better for SEO social media than Facebook?

Since its release, more than 60% of top brands have set up profiles on Google+.

Currently, around 90% of popular brands have Facebook pages.

While there are plenty of developments in Google+, it still has a long way to go to become a fully integrated social media marketing platform. Only 12% of Google+ brand pages have links to their actual home page, whereas more than 50% have home links in Facebook.

Another statistic to consider is the number of followers. In Facebook, top brands usually have more than 1 million followers. Meanwhile, in Google+ they only average around 50,000 followers.

Still, it should be noted that the constant activities in Google+ make it hard to ignore as a social media platform for search engine optimization. While Facebook is still the bona fide online social platform, Google+ is holding its own.
