Can’t find the right second hand vehicle for you? Try the internet.

Kelly Blue Book, a used auto sales guide, has now upgraded its site with search engine optimization features. Despite the recession, the used car market is still strong and Kelly Blue Book is hoping that it can take a bigger market share with its site, kbb.com.

The website generates around 13 million unique visitors per month. And according to executive VP for product design and development Justin Yaros, most of traffic comes from organic search.

“Right now about a third of our traffic is direct to our site, a third comes through search-engine marketing and a third of our volume is through search engine optimization,” Yaros told MediaPost’s MarketingDaily.

Another element that helps the website’s ranking is original content. In a recent column by Mark Jackson from Search Engine Watch, he said that original increases SEO and strengthens branding.

Jackson says that small companies can improve online visibility by creating original and compelling content.
