Microsoft continues to strengthen Bing’s position in the search engine market. The company saw its search engine grow last August.
comScore tallied a an 8.9 increase in percentage points for Bing site searches in August, while Google dropped 0.1.
Majority of the top search engines saw increases in their search scores last month, but Bing had the biggest increase with a 7 percent increase of 1.29 billion searches. However, Bing still has to climb a mountain—maybe mountains—to reach Google who had almost 9 billion searches.
Statistics indicate that Google still possesses a huge portion of the search engine market. Following Google are Yahoo and Bing, respectively. The stats also indicate that the pending merger between number the number two and the number three search engine will have a significant impact in the search engine market.
Together, Yahoo and Bing reeled in more than 4 billion searches and, upon the merger, they will hold 19 percent of the market.
