Search Engine Optimization—back to the basics

Published on September 4, 2009 by Last Click News   ·   No Comments

A search engine optimization (SEO) campaign is comprised of many parts. It has a hierarchy of needs, which means that some components need to be met before others.

That’s the reason why many SEO marketing campaigns fail—they don’t have solid SEO base components. According to Virginia Nussey of Bruce Clay Inc., the hierarchy of SEO needs requires websites to complete the basic levels before taking care of the other elements.

Nussey also emphasizes analytics and web intelligence as the primary tools of any good online marketing campaign.
She said that keywords and content are the most basic parts of an SEO campaign. These two are the foundation of many other SEO tools, like link development.

“Content is how a search engine and a human user know what your site is about, what they can expect to get from it, and where its expertise lies,” writes Nussey. “It seems obvious, but the content of a site – be it text, images, video or other – needs to clearly explain who the audience is and what the subject matter is.”
