SEO for your Facebook account

Published on August 20, 2009 by Last Click News   ·   No Comments

Search engine optimization (SEO) is typically associated with online sales, but the truth is, it can also help people who have any type of online presence, like an account in Facebook.

In a recent post at AllFacebook.com, Nick O’Neill mentioned that people who want their Facebook profiles to be found can use SEO within the site—starting with getting a vanity URL name.

O’Neill advises that users should use content with related keywords inside their ‘about box’.

“That mysterious box at the top left of your Facebook page is one of the few areas on your page which is accessible to search engines,” writes O’Neill. “It’s also relatively high up in the page HTML which means that search engines will give the text priority over text that’s further down the page. Take the opportunity to fill the about box with keyword rich content.”

Relevant content is also important for your Facebook page’s SEO. The social-networking Website recently introduced a new real-time search function, which allows users to browse relevant content outside of their friend’s pages.
