The basics of PPC advertising

Published on November 23, 2009 by Last Click News   ·   2 Comments

Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising is a fast-growing marketing tool that involves the use of keywords and phrases in text advertisements.

This is how to PPC advertising basically works: open a search engine and enter a search phrase or keyword and open the results page.

Aside from the results, you will also notice links on the right page. These are referred to as the sponsored links or PPC advertisements.

In this arrangement, there are three parties involve: the search engine, which posts the advertisements; the visitor who visits the host website; and the advertiser, who pays for the PPC advertisement on the host website.

In the PPC industry, advertisers bid on keywords and phrases. Whenever a browser searches for a particular keyword, the PPC advertisement will be placed beside the search results.

Aside from PPC, there are also other paid search methods like pay-per-impression and pay-for-ranking.
