What happens to SEO in 2012

Published on January 10, 2012 by David Castillo   ·   No Comments

In 2011, search engine optimization took on a bigger role in internet marketing. You can expect more of this in 2012. With more people familiar with the concept, the potential for SEO is limitless.

One of the things you can expect is the further integration of social media into SEO. As more consumers sign-up for social networking sites, like Facebook and Twitter, these sites will then take on a bigger role in SEO. Social media influence is invaluable to all SEO campaigns.

Also, some experts believe that paid search will get more emphasis this year. With search engines searching for more profitability, you can count on them to integrate more paid search features in their search results pages. At the same time, these paid features can also be used to bolster organic SEO campaigns.

Of course, spam is still spam. And people can expect search engines to penalize spam even more in 2012. Google will be at the forefront of this effort.

With all these factors in mind, you can expect the SEO playing field to be even more competitive in the following year.
