Will domain personalization affect SEO?

Published on July 20, 2011 by David Castillo   ·   No Comments

Beginning 2012, corporations and municipalities can buy specific domain names (like “.lastclicknews” as opposed to “lastclicknews.com.” This will allow buyers to personalize the source of their site, and classify it into consolidated groups. However, it could have an effect in search engine optimization.

While domain purchasing offers personalization benefits, it can also restructure how web pages will be ranked in search engine—like Google, Yahoo!, and Bing. These search engines will more or likely introduce new algorithms to handle these new options.

Experts forecast that it will definitely have an impact in indexing.  It’s up to SEO campaigns to adapt to these changes in the succeeding months.
