Yahoo! Japan picks Google over Bing

Yahoo! Japan has designed a new portal for its users. Developers say that they will adopt technology from Google rather than the Microsoft system that will be used by its strategic partner, Yahoo!.

The site, which Yahoo! owns by more than 30 percent, is the most popular search engine in Japan—accounting for more than half of total traffic.

While the local search engine will use Google, company reps say that it will not affect its partnership with Yahoo!.

Under the Search Alliance deal, Bing will power the main sites of Yahoo!.
